Describing something is like using it, 2025
Animation, 2’30”

Some ancient sculptures were found in a hot spring. The piece wonders what it means to bring them back to light, when they had been willingly donated to the depths of the water and mud.
The animation consists of six hundred drawings that have been realized with oil pastels on paper. This technique allows to imagine instead of having to reframe something that already exists, working on the film as a painting that can be composed without a defined script. Also the sound part was elaborated, in collaboration with sound artist Nicola Cocco, in an imaginative way. Sampling sounds from everyday and collective memory guide, punctuate and accompany a ritual that is both discovery and desecration.
